The Florida Dental Hygiene Alliance (FLDHA), established in 2024, aims to improve access to oral health care in Florida. It advocates for dental therapy to address disparities and empowers dental professionals while fostering community partnerships. FLDHA is committed to promoting equitable care and healthier smiles across the state.

Board of Directors

Allen Thomas-Holmes, CRDH, BS

Co-founder and COO of The Florida Dental Hygiene Alliance.

Allen Thomas-Holmes is a dedicated dental hygienist and leader in the profession. A graduate of the University of Southern Indiana, he has gained extensive experience in community health, private practice, and dental service organizations (DSOs) throughout his career. Allen has also served as a Hygiene Director, overseeing clinical operations and professional development within an organization.

His passion for advocacy and leadership is evident through his involvement with the American Dental Hygienists’ Association (ADHA). He has served as President of his local component and as a chair member for his state association, working to advance the profession and improve access to care.

Allen remains committed to mentorship, advocacy, and professional growth, continually working to elevate the role of dental hygienists in healthcare.

Catherine Cabanzon, CRDH, BASDH
Co-founder and VP of The Florida Dental Hygiene Alliance.

Catherine Cabanzon is a distinguished dental hygienist with an Associate Degree from Palm Beach Community College and a Bachelor’s in Applied Science from St. Petersburg College.

Her extensive background in the profession of dental hygiene includes clinical hygiene in general and periodontal practices, community health program development, publishing of educational articles and videos, grant writing, educator, practice management consultant, dental board examiner, and an educational consultant, key opinion leader, and national speaker for Orapharma Inc., Dental Product Shoppers, Centrix Dental and ZimVie Dental. Herpass ion for oral health and her desire to serve her community through early prevention and education has brought her to work with national, state, and county leaders. In 2009, she sat on the Florida Department of Health, Florida Oral Health Workforce Workgroup, moving forward access to care initiatives in Florida. These partnerships have led her to develop and manage oral health programs such as the Head Start Dental Home Initiative, the Dental Home Initiative for Persons with Developmental Disabilities, the Pediatric Fluoride Varnish program, and the Florida Department of Health’s Third Grade Oral Health Surveillance project. She has served as the Coordinator for Oral Health Florida and the Floridians for Dental Access Coalition, working on oral health legislation and communications campaigns.

Catherine was appointed to the Florida Board of Dentistry in 2012 and served until 2021. During her service to the Board, she served as Vice-Chair and was the first dental hygienist to serve as the Chair. She was Chair of the Council on Dental Hygiene and the Chair of the Rules Committee. She served on the Steering Committee of the Commission on Dental Competency Assessment (CDCA, CITA, WREB) and the Dental Hygiene Exam Committee for the American Board of Dental Examiners (ADEX). She is the past Chair of Governmental Affairs for the Florida Dental Hygienists’ Association and has worked to pass many legislative accomplishments for the dental hygiene profession. She is a co-founder and Vice President of The Florida Dental Hygiene Alliance Inc.

Sue Kassoff-Correia, CRDH, BS
Co-founder and CO of The Florida Dental Hygiene Alliance.

Sue Kassoff-Correia, CRDH, BS, is a dedicated dental hygienist, educator, and oral health advocate with expertise in clinical care, public health, and professional leadership. She holds an A.S. in Dental Hygiene from Palm Beach State College and a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Florida.

Currently the Project Manager for Oral Health Florida, she coaches nurses in Miami-Dade public schools.

She has served as a screener for Florida Department of Health oral health projects and is a former adjunct instructor at Broward College and Nova Southeastern University.

A past President of the Florida and Atlantic Coast Dental Hygienists’ Associations, she actively advances the profession through leadership roles in advocacy initiatives.
 
Passionate about community service, Sue is a clinical director for  Special Olympics Florida – Special Smiles program.
